Ah! My Goddess

Introduction

The series Ah! My Goddess has gone through a lot with so many variations. It began as an OVA, to Chibi form, to a full fledge series and even has a movie. For a show to have that kind of success, of course I have to give it a try. Below are reviews for this anime from various authors. Please do not that I don't necessary agree with all of the things mentioned in the review but I do agree that they are good and helpful.

Ah! My Goddess 2005

This review is written by Aionic.

The story is simple: A guy (Keiichi) with bad luck has bad things happen to him constantly, a Goddess (Belldandy) takes pity on him, allowing him to have 1 wish and the guy, rather bizarrely, requests that the Goddess stays with him forever. From that point onwards the other main characters are slowly introduced, including characters such as Skuld; a young Goddess who wants all Belldandy's attention, and lots of comedy follows.

Ah! My Goddess (AMG) is what I've come to call a "circular series", and by that I mean it's the type that goes around in a seemingly endless circle of comedy episodes that advance the plot very slowly, if at all. But, thankfully, that isn't a bad thing in the case of this series – the main characters are all likeable, the relationship between a wimp (Keiichi) and doormatt (Belldandy) is as entertaining as it is cute and the series clearly had a fairly high budget. You'll end up glad that Ah! My Goddess is the type of series that will continue until the money stops coming.

AMG is a show that just about anyone from either gender should enjoy. It isn't a series for the sort of people who can't enjoy anything without blood and guts but I find it hard to imagine anyone else disliking it. If you want an easy to watch or a "girlfriend friendly series" that's almost guaranteed to make time pass in an enjoyable manner then this most certainly is it.

I've moved onto the 2nd season (although I've put it on hold for the moment) and I still enjoy watching it just as much as I did when I started. I highly recommend continuing the series with that once you get through the first season – It's a direct continuation of what you'll by then know is a high quality series.

Ah! My Goddess: Sorezore no Tsubasa

This review is written by Eirianna.

Ah! My Goddess: Sorezore no Tsubasa is the continuing story Keichi Morisato and the Goddess, Belldandy, who promised too stay by his side. Taking place one year after the events in Ah! My Goddess, not much has changed. Keichi still lives with Belldandy and her older sister Urd and her younger sister Skuld. Belldandy and Keichi still havn't kissed or enegaged in anything beyond hand holding, which can get frustrating at times, though they confess often to loving each other. In these new stories, Urd and Skuld get there own romances, which is nice, and some competiton for Keichi appears in the form of the goddess Peorth, who has a grudge against Belldandy.

The thing that most stands out in this series is it's beauty. The art is lush and colorful, each character uniquely drawn to stand out from the others. The music is at time breathe taking. Especially the opening song Shiawase no Iro sung by Yoko Ishida, whose voice is pure and lovely. Ah! My Goddess: Sorezore no Tsubasa still features the laugh out loud moments as the first did.

In summation, this series is sure to make tears come to you're eyes, whether with mirth or with heavy emotion. Ah! My Goddess: Sorezore no Tsubasa is definitely worth watching.

Ah! My Goddess: The Movie

This review is written by realanimefan.

Ah! My Goddess is a big fan favorite of the past decade or so, and now they have a movie. I recently had the pleasure to enjoy this movie. Anyway I thought the story meshed really well together and was a good finisher for the first 2 seasons. The visuals flowed very good together, similar to the series. The problem I had with this one is that compared to the series, the art isn't nearly as good as it is in season's 1 and 2 which is very dissapointing but the sound was great, especially during the fight sequences.

The character's remained the same however. They introduced Belldandy's mentor Celestine but the story is centered around Keiichi and Belldandy.

I really enjoyed this film and is a must for Ah! My Goddess fans or romantic fans, it offers everythings: twists and turns just like the series. I would suggest this to any anime fan, so overall I give this movie a 10.

  • While this anime doesn't really stand out against other animes that I have seen, it is certainly one of the better ones as I was entertained. Give it a try if you haven't seen it.
