Gokujou Seitokai

Introduction

Gokujou Seitokai is a light heart anime designed for those who just wants to take a breather from the everyday action and drama animes. You will get some laughs here and there but if you are expecting anything more from it, you are looking at the wrong anime.

Review

Story

The biggest problem with this anime is that there is no storyline. For a 26 episodes anime, you definitely need one. Each time I think that the story will now finally unfold, I was rejected and rejected immediately. For the most part, you can pretty much watch the entire show in any order and you probably wouldn't miss a thing. Each episdoe has their own little story, if you can even call it that, but all are lacking in creatively and attraction.

It is too bad though because they do have a lot of plots that they can work with if only they would extend and provide more information about it. But the longest plot for the anime lasted at most 3 episodes long and then a whole new unrelated story begings. This is not of the mystery or detective/investigation genere of an anime so that type of constant jumping from one plotline to another is just bad taste.

Characters

I wasn't all that fond of the characters. Our protagonist, Rando Rino, is just your typical girl protagonist like any other anime that has this school/life genre. She is dumb and stupid with a sad story behind it. Come on, give me something new, I am sure there are other ideas out there. Jinguji Kanade, whom everyone in this anime adores, I can't figure out why they would adore here so much. Sure, she helps them at a point in there past, but it wasn't something that would make one go gaga over her.

The entire cast was huge and quite honestly, each time I see an anime that has a huge cast, I can already tell it is going to be borderline bad if not worse. Seldom does it ever exceeds my expectation and Gokujou Seitokai didn't. The problem with a large cast is that you will have a problem of keeping everyone of them interesting and supportive to the anime. Unless you do it just right, you'll have the problem where you have characters who are under developed (and that can even include the main characters and not just the support one) or you'll have characters who are ignored. Overall though, I think this anime did a relatively good job of integrating it cast of characters but it isn't something I am jumping out of my seat about.

Animation

Released in 2005 so the animation is pretty much up to today's standard. Nothing spectacular but nothing attrocious either. And yes, that is it, no other comment on this section.

Sound

When I first heard the opening theme, I liked it somewhat. But after hearing it a few more times, it became annoying. The ending theme was a little better but again, not spectacular. The background music was just horrible for the most part. Very few of the background music was enjoyable by me.

Conclusion

Gokujou Seitokai is by no means a great anime and shouldn't be considered as such. But it is a good anime to watch if you need to take a break after watching all those horror animes. You'll get some laughs (not a lot but good enough). If you are looking for anything that is contains more substance then this anime isn't for you. Otherwise, it should be okay.

Download

Below are some instrumental songs I was able to find for this anime. As a short note though, some of these songs I didn't even heard on the anime.
